The adjective crud without an e implies that Pantagruelion is a masculine noun.

At the beginning of Chapter 49, in preparation for the voyage, Pantagruel loaded his ships with Pantagruelion tant verde & crude, “green as well as raw.”

In that case crude implies that Pantagruelion is a feminine noun.
